Camp Pennbrook Wellness Camp Cooking Techniques
Every summer at Camp Pennbrook wellness camp we teach our campers how to make their favorite meals in a healthier manner. Many of them are surprised to learn that they can still enjoy some of their favorite foods and stick to their weight loss journey. This past summer at our weight loss summer camp, girls were excited to participate in our first Master Chef competition in which they were put to the test and had to cook their own meals with the given ingredients.
During these activities campers learned many valuable techniques when it comes to cooking. One of the most valuable perhaps would be the importance of the flavor of food. It’s very simple to swap certain seasonings and condiments in order to make your meal not only healthier but also tastier.
Try these simple weight loss cooking tips:
-Add color to your meals and flavor as well by using red, green and yellow peppers
-Cooking techniques such as grilling or broiling always bring out the best on your protein dishes
-Spice it up with garlic powder, cayenne pepper, rosemary and oregano
